Mental health issues
Let’s talk about...
loneliness
It’s easy to feel lonely if you don’t see or talk to anyone
often. But loneliness is far more complicated than that,
particularly if you’re living with mental health problems.
Being alone isn’t the same as
being lonely. Many of us are
quite comfortable with a bit of
solitude, and there’s nothing
wrong with that.
But for some of us, the feeling of
loneliness is unavoidable, even
when we’re surrounded by people
who care. It’s a sense of isolation
– the feeling that no one can
empathise with, or truly understand,
what we’re going through.

And while loneliness isn’t a
mental health problem in itself,
the two are strongly linked.
If you experience mental
health problems, you’re
more likely to feel isolated
and lonely. And feeling
lonely can have
a negative
impact on
your mental
health.
