How did you know your interest in becoming an EMT?

I had a substitute teacher in high school his name was Mr.Peterson he was always Such a helpful and caring instructor, and he happened to be an EMT. It was there that he caught my attention significantly and decided to sit down and asked him what it to took to become an EMT. We would talk all afternoon about the rigorous training and talked about the moral feeling of saving a life along with different scenarios providing treatment to someone. After listening to Mr. Peterson, I was hooked, I finally got a better understanding of the job description and how interesting it was.

As an EMT student what are the challenges you have to face?

One of the biggest challenges I faced is to maintain an average test score of 75 percent and above. And as a kid I had struggles, I always found myself working twice as hard as other students. In my EMT course, we had a three strike policy where a student can only fail three test Exams and anything more you will have to restart the course from week one. So I had to make sure I worked harder and prove to myself and my instructor that I can do it.

What is your advice as a EMT student ?

Pay as much attention to detail as you can, always write down notes and constantly quiz yourself on terminology or hands-on training. Create study groups in your class to further help you retain information. Keep a perfect attendance, instructors will not care if you come to class and occasionally the instructor will have hands-on Training that you can’t make up.
