Changing the World, One Farmers’ Market at a Time

Growing up in the quaint town of Truro, Massachusetts, living among farmers and fishermen, there was one women who inspired me by always going above and beyond to bring our community together through the common appreciation of food. Her name is Francie Randolph, she also happens to be the mother of my best friend, so I have grown up thinking of Francie as family. Francie is not only an award-winning artist with a Master’s in Art and Technology from Harvard University but an extraordinary women who has combined her passions for art, health, environment and education to create the agricultural non-profit known as “Sustainable CAPE” (Sustainable Center for Agricultural, Preservation and Education.) Curious for more knowledge of Francie’s sought out passions of sustainability and community, I asked her some questions regarding Sustainable CAPE and the programs that she puts on under the agricultural non-profit.

What is Sustainable CAPE and its overall goal?

Sustainable CAPE was created to celebrate local food while teaching about the health of our bodies, community and environment.

What was your idea behind creating the Agricultural Fair and Farmers’ Market?

The ongoing debate of the Nature-Nurture Dichotomy is a whole history of humans believing that they can design and create things that are better than nature and I’ve always believed just the opposite.
