Kellogg Company
Q: Kellogg has been an MMA
member since 1918. What does
that say about the success of
MMA and your membership?
Kellogg founder W.K. Kellogg was
born in Battle Creek and that’s where
he chose to start the Battle Creek
Toasted Corn Flake Company in
1906. Through his passion and
commitment to nutrition, an industry
was born. Today, Kellogg Company
has more than 30,000 dedicated
employees around the world who
help us manufacture our products
in 21 countries and sell them in
more than 180 countries.
As we’ve grown and evolved, so
has the regulatory environment that
informs our ways of manufacturing.
MMA has been by our side for 100
years, promoting manufacturing and
best manufacturing practices, helping
us educate legislators and regulators,
and creating a manufacturing-friendly
economic environment. We appreciate
MMA’s dedication to supporting
Michigan manufacturers.
Q: What traits or values do
you feel have led to such
longevity for Kellogg?
Our founder, W.K. Kellogg, instilled
in our company the values that
continue to inspire us today. He
was motivated by people, quality
and innovation, and cared about
the environment and communities
that he/we operated in.
With our continued commitment
to W.K. Kellogg’s ideals, we can push
beyond boundaries and across
borders, to create foods and brands
that help to fuel the best in everyone
everywhere. It is this belief that
brings us together and sets us apart.
Q: What is the one thing you want
people to know about Kellogg?
Our company is a place where
innovation lives on, where we never
stop learning and where we’re excited
about tomorrow. And it all started
with a single corn flake, and W.K.
Kellogg’s belief in better food for
all. Not many people know that W.K.
discovered that he could produce a
better flake by using only the corn
grit or “sweet heart of the corn.” And
he was the only cereal manufacturer
to put his signature on each package,
telling the world that Kellogg’s
Corn Flakes® are “The Original.”
Today, we continue to enrich and
delight the world through innovative
products like Joybol — a portable
breakfast smoothie bowl that combines
layered flavors and creamy, crunchy
textures and even includes a spoon!
Our commitment to our
consumers and customers has always
driven our growth, and we value
MMA’s steadfast commitment to
member companies and their
contribution to the success of
manufacturing in Michigan.
