Q : October 6 is National MFG Day . How is MMA working to promote this annual event and make 2017 the most successful year yet ?
Kopietz : National MFG Day is a great opportunity to inform your community and increase your exposure ! Over the past several years this program has grown exponentially to host facility tours all across the country . Last year , more than 2,800 events were held across North America — a number we expect to climb year over year .
Resources to help you host a successful tour will be available this summer but , for now , mark your calendar for National MFG Day on October 6 and see page 10 for ideas to start planning your event today !

Kopietz : One way to increase attention and prestige is to recognize the innovative , forward-thinking leaders who are making a difference in our communities . Expanding on the visibility of the long-established John G . Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year awards , a newly created annual awards program will be held this fall ! Diverse award categories coupled with an easy and engaging nomination process will make sure this program captures the best of the best in Michigan manufacturing .
