Step 4.

Juice Selection. I recommend vegetable Juice fasting for detox because they are easily absorbable and support an alkaline environment in what is often an acidic body due to meat, dairy, sugar and processed foods. Juices have lots of nutrients that are not destroyed by cooking and they allow the body to detoxify more slowly lessening the burden on the liver. Fruit and vegetables should not be mixed in the juice with the exception of apples carrots and cucumber which are interchangeable and CPRESS have a great line of cold pressed certified organic cleansing juices for this purpose. Including detox waters, liver support, gut healing and electrolytes, gently increasing the green juices by day 3 onwards.

Results.

My body felt great taking the probiotics, I felt my digestion had sped up and the juices were really well balanced gradually dropping in calories as the week went on so I didn’t feel hungry. On day 3 the green juices pushed my energy to a different level, my stomach felt flat and I powered through my workout, with quick recovery and finished the day feeling revitalised. I was convinced this was undoubtably the best juice detox I had done.

However, the second microbiome test would show if there was truly an

improvement and this I left for another week to allow my gut to rebalance after being flooded with nutrients and bacteria.

Results came in from Atlas on an easy to read dashboard where I learnt the state of my bacteria, what I was missing and how it affected my absorption from foods, and tips to improve my health.

Most importantly I learnt that prior to the detox I was not synthesising vitamins B 5 and B7 meaning the health of my immune system, hair and nails were compromised. My microbiome was graded at 6 out of 10. Following the 7 days of juices and probiotics and an extra week to settle, my microbiome had shifted to 8/10 and my body had the bacteria to synthesise all the vitamins I needed.

On top of this I had the added bonus of clear eyes and toned skin, added energy, clarity and a few less pounds. Furthermore I want to reach 10 out of 10 so I won’t hesitate to do it again in Spring!

Please note it is important to ease back in to eating with some steamed vegetables for the first two days so as not to overload the digestive system and if you are on any medication you must discuss with your healthcare provider before undergoing a Detox.
