Step 1.

Prepare Exit. Prior to detox it is advisable to ensure exit passages are clear so toxins can leave the body. A detox moves pollutants in to the blood stream as fat stores are used up (toxins are usually dumped in fat cells) and it is important these toxin levels remain low and leave our system quickly.

At least one bowel movement a day is required and if this is not so then I recommend you take Psyllium husks which must be taken with lots of water or some prunes for a week before to clear the system. Dry skin brushing is also advisable to allow toxins to leave our skin especially during periods of strenuous exercise.

Step 2.

Prepare the Organs. The kidneys and liver need to be prepared for the workload prior to the start of the detox week. For the kidneys; 2 cups of 500 ml of warm water with ½ lemon squeezed on rising for a week prior to detox, and for the liver, Milk thistle (420g capsules) and a daily cup of Dandelion root tea or coffee is advisable. (Ensure Dandelion root coffee doesn’t contain sugar)

Step 3.

Repopulate Gut. Most of us have had antibiotics, paracetamol or ibuprofen, gluten containing grains and alcohol which contribute to Leaky gut. Leaky gut

creates gut dysbiosis which compromises detoxification capability by depleting the bacteria strains active in detoxification and overloading the liver with the by-products of detoxification. Simply this produces holes in the wall of the small intestine which allows toxic by-products to pass into our bloodstream rather than continuing through the 5-meter digestive tract to be eliminated from the body.

Rhythm health have a 200 billion live coconut kefir culture fermented with a synergistic order of microorganisms to flood the gut with live bacteria. The reason we need so much bacteria is our standard western diet helps us feed our sugar loving bacteria and the bacteria that extracts the vitamins from fruit and vegetables are overrun so we need to put a large number of troops in to battle in order for them to survive against the sugar loving bacteria and we have to feed them fibre.

For the weekend prior to the commencement of my detox I only consumed fruit and vegetables, as raw as was possible and the live 200 Rhythm kefir shot each morning which I continued for the next 5 days of the Juice cleanse. This gave my probiotics lots of fibre to feed on.
