Would you ever sing for Mr Trump?

Oh I really would draw the line there. I know there is controversy about whether performers should discriminate, as it’s our job to perform, not air our view. But on a personal level I could not do it.

Was your skirt coming off a deliberate plot to hit the spotlight?

Oh, I wish I had thought of it! Who would have thought a Drag Queen’s

skirt coming off would get me so much press in the U.K? They have not left me alone since then but it was just a wardrobe malfunction. I think people don’t realise it’s not a stage performance and there is no run through. It can be quite overwhelming and before I knew it, my skirt came off.

Amanda and Wayne, both older generation LGBTQ, were quite critical of your style of drag, having worked with Danny la Rue. They labelled you unprofessional - did you put that down to their age?

First of all, I loved Amanda, she was my favourite in there. I think they had problems more with my attitude towards confronting Ann about her voting record on LGBTQ rights. They come from a different era and I respect their views. But Amanda would not be married to her wife Hilary if it were up to the likes of Ann. I’m not sure they had an issue with my style of drag.

The whole of the UK is in love with Courtney! Tell me about the upcoming tour.

It kicks off in Brighton, one of my favourite towns. It is going to be camp and fun, bigger than usual and with greats sets and a piano. I am also going to be at the Edinburgh festival – I love it there and am very excited.

Finally, where do you see yourself in ten years?

Living in the UK with a partner and my own variety show would be amazing. I am already looking for a permanent home in London.
