When I met Dr Liakas, he told me he’d had the treatment done himself – and judging by his trim waistline, I reckoned this was the way forward for me too!
He made the point that it’s not really for those who are obese or very overweight. A better course of action in those cases would be to get rid of most of the excess weight first, and then come to him for help with the really hard bits to shift. It’s also not recommended for patients over 60, under 18, or for pregnant women.
Having undressed I pointed out the area of concern, the doctor’s eagle eye showed me that as well as work needed in that area there were pockets of fat around my back - love handles - that were preventing me from getting the look I wanted. And I’d never even noticed them!
The injection dissolves the fat cells, which are then eliminated naturally by the body in urine over a three-week period. There is a possibly of bruising and for the first week and you will appear to look heavier in the area when the procedure has taken place. But that is just swelling from the injections and will subside.
Two days later, however, I was feeling rather sorry for myself as my stomach felt as though I’d been in the ring taking a beating from Mike Tyson. It certainly looked that way, particularly as I’m prone to bruising anyway.
It didn’t stop me doing cardio at the gym, as I was determined to not to let up on my fitness regime. being determined to give it my all. Worryingly, though, fluid seemed to gather at my problem area, making me look like a potbelly pig. A quick call to the clinic and I was assured it was all in order at this stage.
When three weeks had passed, all the fluid had gone and my back area looked great, although the stomach remained the same.
By my next appointment it was easy to see
results, even in the front area. The second sets
of injections were quick and, once again, I was
back to being rather full in the belly area, as
well as bruised. But it’s easy to disguise that
with waistcoats and jackets and it was exciting
to see the results coming through. Combining
the treatment with exercise, diet and drinking
lots of water to flush myself out it was really
beginning to work.
The fourth session was the most painful, as
there was much less fat and the bruising was
extreme. It might have been better had I not
had a long haul flight the next day, as it felt as
though something was jabbing into me the
whole way.
It was well worth it, however. The results are
quite incredible and the risks and expense
much less than traditional contouring cosmetic
procedures. Dr Liakas is a pioneer of soft
surgery here in the UK and believes that you
can avoid resorting to the knife with his range
of treatments.
Certainly Aqualyx is something to consider for
anyone trying to get results they’re not getting
from dieting or exercise. Although it can be
done in a lunchtime, it’s not the same as
lunchtime lipo and it’s more sensible to do it
after work or on a day off. It’s also a good top
up for traditional lipo.
If you’re planning to use it to get into a
wedding suit or for some other special occasion
you should allow yourself at least three
months to make sure you get the look you
want.
Treatment starts for £500 by consultation
