He started competitive racing in his teen's and is now in his 40's. He retired from athletics in 2005 - 11 years ago.

He has had to stay " honest " throughout his racing career while rubbing shoulders with many performance enhancing drugs users. Sometimes being beaten by them ( although most were found out and banned and his and his team mates honesty rewarded ).

He almost inevitably credits his Jamaican heritage for his speed ( although his recent TV programme showed that " speed " genes could come from his British genes aswell as his Jamaican ones so in that regard he might have to revise his reverance ).

He certainly credits his adoptive parents for his positive, can do attitude and morals.

Millie sprints after Jamie Baulch to find out what his future plans are...

2016 and 2017 were already big years for Jamie in relation to his Olympic and World athletics medals and the release of the television program on " Finding his Real Father " which followed the BAFTA Award winning program on " Finding his birth mother " has made them even more significant.

Those of you that have watched these programmes know that he failed to find his birth father and found his birth mother only to have her die of cancer very recently. He found out about her cancer when he found her and the only saving grace is that she lived longer than expected and so he had 2 wonderful years with her.

So, we write about Jamie at a time of enormous reflection for him.

Death has that affect on you.

Jamie was keen to focus on his future plans for this interview rather than his past but inevitably we must bear in mind his life journey so far.

By adoption - he is a Barnardo's Boy and an ambassador for them - Jamie is Welsh, living in South Wales, although he was born in Nottingham, England.
