What’s it like running your own business? Describe your typical day.

I get up at 7am. I check emails and do some Instagram work while I have breakfast.

I’m in the studio for 10am and then it’s a case of what’s lined up that particular day, it always changes.

Usually I have linking to do - which is basically sewing garments together - so if I have a big pile of that I will put a podcast on and work my way through. This is usually interspersed with admin, packing orders and website updates.

Depending on the time of year the production work gets swapped for design work, so during those periods I’m either drawing at the studio or developing pieces with the manufacturers.

Which entrepreneur/person has inspired you the most & why?

Aside from my parents my friend Charli Cohen is a huge inspiration to me. She started her own fashion brand a couple of years before me and has been the most incredible support. Her dedication, passion and fearlessness is hugely inspiring.

What advice would you give to somebody thinking of starting their own business?

The first thing I did was reach out to every contact I could think of and just arranged coffee dates to discuss my plans. Sometimes it’s just good to have to put your ideas into words but you also never know how someone might be able to help you.

It’s hugely surprising how willing people are to help if you just reach out and ask. Always stay humble and willing to listen, but also remember that advice is just someone’s opinion formed from their own experience. It’s up to you whether you act on that advice or decide it doesn’t work for you.
