The water was so crystal clear it could have easily been mistaken for the Maldives! The marine life gliding along beside us as we approached made the temptation to dive in even more irresistible! We anchored the boat, and gave into our urges, swimming under the basking sun. Before long and anchors away we headed for our next spot, Island Toro. This was truly a snorkelers/divers paradise! I didn’t venture too far down in the glistening depths of the sea, however, Jean, my partner and free-diving enthusiast couldn’t resist exploring the rocky city under the waves!

Last but not least, we stopped off at Palombaggia beach for lunch. This much-loved, flawless beach is arguably the most famous beach on the island, and voted one of Corsica’s finest and was recently voted France’s number one beach in the Tipadvisors Travellers Choice 2016, and it’s easy to see why. An ellipse of sand flanked by mountains and umbrella shaped pines, Palombaggia is a beautiful 2 km stretch of powdery golden sand and shallow crystal clear blue water. The pink granite headlands that enclose the beach add to the exquisite blend of colours, which guard this precious jewel.

Palm Beach Palombaggia was our lunch spot. Perfectly positioned directly on the beach, the serene sound of the sea caressing the shore, as our feet lay heavy in the sand our spread of local fresh fish is sprawled on the table before us.

Mesmerised by the eclectic fuse of wild herb seasonings, the sweet smell of maquis, and the pristine reflection of the sun on the serene water could only be described as spellbinding.

As we approached the end of our trip, we made our way back to Bastia (the bottom of the Cap). Full of Corsican culture and a belly full of local delicacies we felt fulfilled with all that Corsica had presented us.

With that being said, our eyes were still bewildered at the ever-changing landscapes that unfolded before us. Corsica really was the island that just kept on giving!
