t’s a sunny morning at Freemasons Hall and I’m awaiting the arrival of Martyn Roberts the founder of Fashion Scout. I can see him in the room, but on his way over to talk with me he’s taken time to make sure the graduates involved in today's presentation are ok, making sure they have everything they need. Alongside Fashion Scout he’s also for the last seven years been running Graduate Fashion Week and today some of the emerging stars in the industry are showing their collections to the London Fashion Week Press.
Over the years such current global stars as Peter Pilotto, Phoebe English, Eudon Choi, Fydor Golan have started their careers showing with him, each season sees some of the freshest talent in the industry come to Covent Garden and be part of Fashion Week. It’s the place where I first saw some of the designers I adore such as Apu Jan and I-Am-Chen. Over the next thirty minutes we’ll cover so much, but at every turn his passion for developing and supporting designers whether graduates or with their young label's bursts out, and how important it is for him to provide them a space to grow and develop. He has a very simple way of expressing what he and his team do . . .
