If you are a fan of reading Interiors magazines and websites, then you will know that designs inspired by Folk Art are a huge trend within the interior design world at the moment. So, this month I decided to learn a bit more about this trend having uncovered some amazing Folk Art furniture pieces in Modern Folk, Bermondsey.
First of all, to interior design professionals Folk Art is the term widely used to describe ‘art of the people,’ designs that have been created by craftspeople in rural locations. This work can cover many different forms from quilts to pottery, furniture to artworks and wood carvings, but the usual characteristic of it is the naïve style and abundance of often clashing colours and prints.
