I then started approaching high end salons, asking them to help sell my wigs to their celebrities clients. This was how I got in touch with both the theatre and entertainment industry.

How do you draw your inspiration for your wigs?

I am inspired by many different things, but mostly nature. I love both birds and flowers.

How long does it typically take you to create a single wig?

This really depends on the type of wig that I want to create. If it is wig for daily wear, I can create this very quickly. If it is a very special project and I want it to look stunning, then this can take months. Couture wigs can often be very time consuming and there can be lots of different obstacles – however this isn’t a painful process for me, but very fun!

What do you want people to think when they see one of your wigs?

I want people to see my wigs as a piece of art. They are more than just a typical wig, more of couture head pieces.

You have also created stunning displays and installations – what has been your favourite project so far?

I don’t have a favourite project so far, as I always think the best is yet to come! Every time I finish a project, I am always excited for the next one!

What is the most challenging part of owning your own brand?

My brand has become more of an atelier as apposed to a retail brand that people can easily approach. In the last ten years I have focused more on projects for luxury brands, as they trust my branding is in- line with theirs - however this type of project isn’t something I can easily sell to a retail customer.

At the moment I am concentrating on my work as a creative director and artist, as I would love to do more exhibitions and share my work with people all over the world.

What moment in your career are you the most proud of?

In 2013 I held an exhibition entirely made from hair called WOON Wig Wonderland. This exhibition featured over 20 hand-crafted installations made from coloured hair!
