My hair is super thin, and always has been, so I have found solace in hair extensions. I saw that you do something new called Stem Cell hair therapy, which seems to work well on men. First of all, does it work on women? And secondly, would I need to take my hair extensions out?

Cilla Jones, Cardiff

Stem cell therapy for hair growth is suitable for both men and women.

It works on the same principle: we inject stem cells that will promote hair follicles and hence promote hair growth in the areas of thinning hair. Good news - you do not need to remove your extensions!

I live miles from away you, in Scotland, but I would really like to come to see you, as your clinic sounds amazing. I find the treatment painful at the place I use now – is there any way you can prepare your skin so it does not hurt so much?

Linda McKinnon, Inverness

We would love you to come to our Harley street clinic in London! As treatments can last for months and years, it is often worth taking a trip to be treated by someone you feel comfortable but I understand this could be inconvenient for you.

Aesthetic treatments should really have minimum discomfort or pain. When visiting your practitioner, ask for a local anaesthetic to be applied 30 minutes prior to the procedure. Also most fillers these days come pre-mixed with anaesthetic. You can ask for a brand that definitely contains anaesthetic.
