What makes a top hairstylist - tips for how to get there?

Strive to learn something new every day and get out of your comfort zone. The “same again” approach does not excite clients – always help guide them with what hairstyles would suit their unique features and offer them something fresh and new.

One of the most important aspects of a hairdresser’s job is to carry out an in-depth consultation where you listen to what the client wants; the skill is to then tactfully inject your own ideas and suggestions to come up with a hairstyle that is perfect for them.

Always remember that you are “only as good as your last haircut” and don’t ever assume that you will have clients locked in with you forever. The Customer is King!

If you didn’t become a hairdresser, which career route would you have taken?

I love interior design and would probably have become an Interior Designer – having designed my own salon, which I greatly enjoyed!

What are your goals for the future? Can we expect another product line or an expansion on the Gold Class range?

I’m always looking at new technics/ products and tools to keep INANCH LONDON at the cutting edge of the industry. We currently have upwards of 15 products within our Gold Class range and will be launching our new high-end tape extensions in September! So watch this space!

At the moment, I’m also researching to find a new system for pre-bonded extensions that will give an even greater client experience with semi-permanent extensions.

It took me several years to find the right hair extensions source and to work with them to further improve the quality of the hair for the benefit of my clients and the salons that we serve under our own “Gold Class” brand name.

Therefore I world say this is 5 years down the line as I’m a perfectionist and if it isn’t right, there is no way I will launch any product in the marketplace with my name on it.
