What are some of the best lessons you have learned about being an entrepreneur in Barbados? The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that your work can be a life-changing inspiration to people you’ve never met. Be- cause of that - every battle in this startup journey has been worth it. 4.) What in your opinion are some of the main differences between Millennials and previous generations as it relates to doing business? In the era of Millennials and social media, we are exposed to so many success stories from young entrepreneurs glob- ally that it has only emboldened our ‘I can do it’ mentality. In the 2000’s, starting your own company in Barbados after graduating seemed like a far-fetched idea, now 10 years later there are so many Bajans trying it and doing it. Selecta Charts seeks to expand the music industry in Barbados from seasonal to year-round. Paul also works as the Editorial Executive at the Barbados Advocate. He received his BA in Graphic Design from Barbados Community College. 1.) Who is Paul Husbands in business (describe)? I’m very new to business. I’ve always been a creative and starting my company Selecta Charts was more of a social impact venture to innovate the Music Industry in Barbados & the Caribbean, more than anything else. Since launching Selecta Charts on April 8th, 2017, I’ve joined several entre- preneurship programs, both locally and internationally (such as the SBA and YLAI respectively), to prepare myself for this new journey. 2.) What inspired you to first start Selecta Charts? Selecta Charts is the first Music Streaming website for Caribbean music from the English-Speaking Caribbean and it’s free to use as a Web App on www.selectacharts.com. It began much more modestly as a School Project at Barba- Millennial Business and Life Mastery Magazine 6.) What has your business taught you about life? Even the best plans can go wrong, so adapt and move with the wave instead of fighting it. 7.) What is the latest with Selecta Charts? (What are you currently working on?) Selecta Chart’s audience has grown considerably in the past 2 years since launch. We’ve recently passed 10,000 Likes on Facebook and over 4,000 followers on Instagram. Also, I’m very excited for all of the new soca music dropping now, so lookout for our Official Crop Over 2019 Playlist com- ing soon! 8.) What is the next step with Selecta Charts? (Do you have any future projects that you are excited about?) Yes, we are currently developing a new version of Selecta Charts.
