Millburn resident preserves life stories on video

T
he prospect of a life
ending too early
because of illness can
be a difficult concept
for anyone to accept,
whether it be a parent,
a child or a spouse. Millburn resident
Kerry Glass works to provide families
with a gift for after their loved ones
have departed.
For the past 10 years, through her
nonprofit, Memories Live, Glass has
taken stories, recipes, memories
and messages and created video
mementos that her clients leave for
their families as a way to remem-
ber them. Here are nine things you
should know about her.

AFTER THE DEATH OF A WOMAN
WITH KIDS THE SAME AGE AS HER
OWN. Glass was inspired to give this
gift to families after a woman with
two children under the age of 5 died
after fighting lung cancer. Glass says
she had children similar in age and
that is why she related to the loss.
“It struck me as a young mother that
these kids wouldn’t know the sound
of their mom’s voice or her stories,”
Glass says. “I thought of my own
kids not having me and saw no one
was doing this.”
SHE ASKED A FRIEND WHO’D EXPE-
RIENCED LOSS FOR INPUT. Glass
reached out to a childhood friend
who had lost his mother when he was
14 and asked if he would have want-
