Millburn-Short Hills Magazine Spring 2018 | Page 10
editor’s letter
T
his spring, Millburn
area residents will take
to the streets — that is,
reenter the public sphere
after the long winter
months, and enjoy the walkability
of our newly reconfig-
ured downtown. With
so many new food and
shopping options out
there, what better time
to publish Millburn &
Short Hills Magazine’s
crowd-sourced READERS’
CHOICE POLL than in the
spring issue? In these pages,
we reveal the perennial favorites
that made the cut, as well as the
newcomers who’re getting the
glory. We also share a few of the
town’s “best kept secrets” (strictly
consumer-related, we promise).
And while local businesses are
at the heart of our community, we
thought it might be interesting to
report what it’s like overseeing 160
specialty stores and restaurants at
once. In our Q&A column, we inter-
view JAMIE COX , the recently-hired
general manager of The Mall at Short
Hills (“From Farming to Fendi”).
Learn how the affable Cox, who
was born in England, grew up on an
island near Seattle and was a com-
mercial realtor in London, New York
and Houston, regularly traverses his
elegant workplace in search of prob-
lems that need solving. That man at
the Starbucks counter might be him.
Our area isn’t merely rich in great
commercial properties, of course;
the residences aren’t exactly yawn-
inspiring, either. Take, for example,
our featured home (“A Summit
Stunner”). Its design heightens the
interior’s attractiveness in part by
opening it up to views of the lovely
surrounding landscape. We hope its
beauty will inspire you, along with
the rest of the magazine. Please share
your local sources of inspiration
