Debbie Mayo confesses she is“ not particularly tech-y,” but the business she recently opened with her husband Robertcertainly is. The Mayo’ s, longtime Millburn residents, opened UBREAKIFIX in Millburn in November. Their store, one of fiveuBREAKiFIX franchises in New Jersey, repairs electronic devices ranging from tablets to computers to arange of cell phones. The store carries replacement parts for iPhones and will orderany part they don’ t carry; diagnosis of adevice’ sproblem is free. The Mayo’ s attended an intensive three-week technical training session at the company’ scorporateheadquar- ters.“ This is first and foremost acustomer service business,” saysDebbie.“ We know that itthrows you for aloop when your device doesn’ t work, so we want to make the repair process less frustrating.”

ForMarcBurachinsky, opening THE HILLS TAVERN represents ahomecoming of sorts: The restaurant occupiesthe spaceformerlyoccupied by MartiniBistro & Bar, whereheonceworked as executive chef. Now the general manager as well as an owner, Burachinsky describes his new ventureas“ awarm neighborhood gastro-tavern.” Open sinceDecember, The Hills Tavern serves cold-weather classics including burgers( both the Dry-Aged and the All-American are customer favorites), pastrami-crusted short ribs, rib-eye sandwiches, chicken pot pie, duck wings with buffalo sauceand blue cheese, deviled eggs, mac-and-cheese and acolossal pretzel with beer fondue. Also onthe menu are such exotic dishes as Thai calamari, tuna poke and steak frites with chimichurri sauce, plus an extensive raw bar featuring fresh oysters and shellfish. There are15craft beers on tap, as well as awide selection of aged whiskeys, craft cocktails and other premium liquors.
