Periodontal disease affects the gums and bone , which support teeth . Early signs of periodontal disease may include inflammation of the gums , bleeding gums and loose or shifting teeth . However , most patients do not experience pain , therefore , do not seek treatment . In advanced stages of periodontitis , bone and tooth loss occur . Dr . Rosenblatt recommends a dental evaluation to diagnose the disease in its early stages before it becomes more advanced . “ This is especially important because so many people have neglected their dental health during COVID ,” he stresses .
Depending upon the severity of a patient ’ s periodontal disease , Dr . Rosenblatt carefully selects the best treatment modality . Among the options are gingival grafts and crown lengthening , scaling and root planing , antibiotic treatment and osseous surgery . To treat gum recession , he uses a minimally invasive method called the Pinhole Technique , which is scalpel- and suture-free , offering a more comfortable experience than traditional gum graft surgery .
When tooth loss has occurred , Dr . Rosenblatt is highly skilled at single or multiple teeth implants . Mini implants are sometimes inserted to help anchor dentures . There are advantages to implants over a fixed bridge , also used to close the gap caused by missing teeth . “ An implant can permanently restore a missing tooth without having to drill the adjacent teeth , and it is much easier to clean and maintain than a fixed bridge .”
Advances in dental technology have resulted in benefits to patients . To assist in the diagnosis , and to formulate a precise treatment plan , the practice uses a cone-beam tomography system to create 3D images of a patient ’ s teeth , jaw and surrounding anatomy . Digital x-rays reduce a patient ’ s exposure to radiation and images can be viewed immediately after being taken . To reduce the discomfort of needles Dr . Rosenblatt uses DentalVibe , a system that applies a light vibration to the tissue around the injection site while anesthesia is administered . The vibration has the effect of fatiguing the nerves around the tooth , essentially making nerves too tired to feel the pain associated with needles .
Dr . Rosenblatt serves as the Chief of Periodontics at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center . He runs an implant and dental study club to encourage the continuing education of dentists in the community . The Consumers Research Council of America named him to its list of Top Dentists in America , and he has consistently been named a Top Dentist within the state .
