COMBINE BUSINESS
WITH PLEASURE
THROUGH
JUNE

If you’re an avid basketball fan
and an amateur player, and your
day job is as a photographer and
videographer, it makes sense to
mix the two — which is what
photographer and videographer
MICHAEL NICHOLAS PARAS
has been doing for years. Since
1986, he has photographed bas-
ketball hoops of all kinds in settings ranging from urban play-
grounds to rural barn facades. He has also documented the
basketball hoops used early in the lives of future Hall of Famers.
Paras has spoken to big name players such as Kareem Abdul-
Jabbar and Moses Malone, as well as everyday fans, about the
significance of their own first hoops. His “Shooting Hoops”
photographic exhibition will be shown at the Visual Arts
Center of New Jersey through June 16. • 68 Elm Street,
