The homeowners wanted this space to have two functions — to serve as both a guest room and an office. There
was no storage in the room, so Richards designed a wall unit and window seats to hold office supplies and hide a
TV. She also added a picture molding to tie it into the existing window casings. The desk is lightweight and can
easily be separated into two pieces, so it can be moved in the event the room needs to be used as a guest room.
A sleeper sofa faces the hidden TV, and doubles as the primary seating for the office. “I had been sprinkling in
touches of gray blue in some of the other rooms, and felt it would be a nice break from main palette to use it
here as the main color,” Richards says. n
