TOSS THE TAKE OUT MENUS
Ask Jess what she is passionate about and along with family, yoga and traveling, design is in her top five category. A huge fan of
Pinterest, she found it very handy when she and Greg decided last summer to redo their kitchen. Boards pinned and ready, she was
more than set when she met with Kevin Huffman of KDH Design to show him everything she loved and wanted. “Pinterest offers an
endless world of design options,” she explains. The cubbies were one such find. The kitchen incorporates three different counter tops
including quartz, granite and limestone and the subway tile is onyx. A bold move, and one that Jess credits from seeing at a friend’s
house, are separate refrigerator and freezer units on either side of the range. The look is balanced and modern, exactly what they
wanted. Stools are from Crate and Barrel and the light fixtures are Visual Comfort.
IDEAS UNFOLDING
Along with Pinterest, Jess likes following design blogs. Her
favorites include: Domino, Anne Sage, Hunted Interior and
Cupcakes & Cashmere. After years of reading the ideas of
others, she decided to start her own blog, Milk and Marble
last fall. Here she shares her view on decorating and the
things that inspire her like taking chances with your interior
as she did with the wallpaper in their dining room. To keep
with the black-and-white theme that plays out throughout
the downstairs, she found a fun paper by Cole & Son
through Maura Buckley at Etc. in Millburn. The simple tree
silhouette and metallic gold pears are a great fit with her
style, which she describes as “modern earthy”. The light
fixture is from West Elm, and the 1960s acrylic bench is
from L’Entrepot in Maplewood.
