WHEN IT COMES TO GOOD ORAL HYGIENE AND PROPER DENTAL CARE,
Dr. Eric C. Weiss is a staunch believer in delivering a strong
and clear message above and beyond his private practice. This
is why he puts so much effort into educating and working with
the greater dental community. A frequent lecturer at
community dental events and continuing education programs,
Dr. Weiss knows that a healthy mouth is key to a healthy
body.
“My work starts with educating our community about good
dental care. Nothing is more important than teaching patients
to take ownership of their oral health,” Dr. Weiss points out.
“Often the first to pick up a patient’s other medical issues, I do
all I can to explain the correlations between periodontics and
other diseases, particularly cardiovascular disease and
diabetes.”
Dr. Weiss has built a practice that focuses on the patient
experience. Great attention is placed on providing a kind and
relaxing environment, particularly in understanding how
stressful and frightening a dental procedure can be. And this
kind of service extends well after the patient leaves the officeDr. Weiss will always personally check on a patient after a
procedure or surgery. Knowing the importance of a
comprehensive approach, he works closely with patient’s
general dentist to ensure the highest level of total care. The
office is equipped with a 3-D cone beam scanner and offers the
latest in technology with computer guided surgery to facilitate
the exact placement of implants.
A third generation dentist, Dr. Weiss chose a periodontal
specialty because of his interest in the close relationship
between good oral health and a patient’s total medical wellbeing. He received a B.A. and D.M.D. from the University of
Pennsylvania and from there went on to complete a residency
in periodontics at Temple University.
In addition to educating the local community, Dr. Weiss is a
Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Pennsylvania
School of Dental Medicine and an Adjunct Professor at
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He is an attending
periodontist at Newark Beth Israel and St. Barnabas Medical
Centers and has lectured at the St. Barnabas Diabetes Support
Group. As part of his strong belief in getting people to
understand the connection between oral health and overall
good health, Dr. Weiss lectures to residents at Newark Beth
Israel and contributes time supervising their program which
provides top-notch dental care to the underserved surrounding
communities.
Dr. Weiss is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Periodontology, a Fellow of the International Team for
Implantology (ITI), a Fellow of the American College of
Dentists (ACD) and a Diplomate of the International Congress
of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).
