TOP DOCTORS 2016 Clifford J. Schob, MD COMPREHENSIVE ORTHOPAEDICS, P.A | 235 MILLBURN AVE., SUITE 102 | MILLBURN | (973) 258-1177 | WWW.COMPORTHONJ.COM “MRIS AND OTHER TESTING METHODS DON’T ALWAYS REFLECT REALITY,” TOP DOCTOR Clifford J. Schob states. “Rather some of the changes we might observe could be the results of normal aging, and another person with the same physical findings can live life virtually pain-free. That’s why adopting a holistic approach in treating patients is so important, because I’m not just addressing a symptom, but rather looking to restore the person to how they felt before.” Left to right: Dr. Daniel B. Richmond, Dr. Clifford J. Schob, Dr. Deepan N. Patel Dr. Schob has earned a stellar reputation in peer and patient circles for his compassion, dedication, knowledge and ability to explain each phase of treatment and recovery. The board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializes in sports medicine as well as arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee. Arthroscopic surgery by definition uses a fiber optic pencil-thin camera that enables smaller skin and muscle incisions. This facilitates a faster return to one’s daily routine. “We’ve been seeing an increasing number of patients with shoulder injuries, both instability and dislocation, along with rotator cuff problems, ranging from bursitis to rotator cuff tears,” says Dr. Schob, who received advanced fellowship training at the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. “As a surgeon I have great respect for a knife, but we use that as a last resort after exhausting all other options. Even then, it’s minimally invasive, and scheduled as same-day surgery.” Dr. Schob, who established Comprehensive Orthopaedics 23 years ago, welcomed his partner, Dr. Daniel B. Richmond, in 1998. Dr. Richmond is also fellowship trained in sports medicine, specializing in knees and shoulders. He treats a broad range of problems including fractures and arthritis. Earlier this year the practice expanded to include Dr. Deepan N. Patel who completed his sports medicine fellowship at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. Dr. Patel also specializes in treating knee and shoulder problems and has a special interest in hip arthroscopy and fracture care. The practice has expanded to include additional offices in Clark and Newark with a competent staff numbering 14 people. Debra N.
