DRESSED UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS
(Clockwise from above) In the living room, decorative silver trees from Karen’s mother festoon a
coffee table. The family saw a replica of this mahogany dining room table while stopping on their
way back from their beach house in Delaware. “We stopped in Wilmington and wanted to buy it, so
they ordered it (and its chairs) to be shipped from Indonesia to us,” says Bowman, laughing because
they’d just recently moved back from Hong Kong. Using all of its five sections, the table can seat up
to 22 people, she says. The wallpaper style is Bridgehampton Portofino, and is from Thibaut Design;
the chandelier is from Overstock.com. The fireplace is one of eight in the home.
The dress form is another idea that originated with Gamgort seeing it in a magazine, and giving it
to the family to execute. “That was labor-intensive,” says Bowman. “We attached chicken wire for
the skirt, added greens with plastic ties, and kept overlapping them so the ties aren’t visible.” The
white tree in Breanne’s bedroom is the only one of four that she gets to decorate with ornaments
imbued with sentimental value. ■
