Kids sometimes balk at swim lessons, but chances are they won’t if they know
they’re going to have them at SWIMQUEST, the new swim school set to open in late
November or early December (an arcitect’s rendering is above). Co-owned and oper-
ated by South Orange native Kenny Gantman, it will feature two 1,000-gallon salt
water aquariums built by the guys behind the Animal Planet reality show Tanked,
one of which will be visible from the pool where kids take their private, semi-private
and group classes. There will also be a 30-foot river stocked with koi fish and a built-
in waterfall; when kids exit the pool, sensors in an open passageway will set off Real
Rain showerheads that gently wash them off. Seasonal sessions run 12-15 weeks,
and cost $40-$80 per weekly class, each with a ratio of three students per instructor;
interested parents can go to the SwimQuest website to sign their children up for the
winter session, which begins Jan. 2. Lessons for adults will also be available.

Short Hills
ENVIRONMENTALLY-
FRIENDLY
DRY-CLEANED
CLOTHES, 24/7
The OXXO CARE CLEANERS franchise in
Short Hills offers customers some great
innovations. They use economical-
ly-friendly techniques to clean clothes,
replacing potentially cancer-causing
chemicals with GreenEarth solvents —
basically liquid sand — and they hand-
iron the clothes, instead of relying on
diesel-dependent steam boilers. They’re
also the automats of the laundromat
industry: Their orders are available
around the clock for pickup via a down-
loadable app. “You drive up to the win-
dow as you would to an ATM, place your
phone on the window so the code reader
on the main conveyor can scan it, the
window opens and your clothes are hang-
ing there,” says Salomon Mishaan, found-
er and president of the company, which
has 50 stores in the U.S. and seven in
Indonesia. • 622 Morris Turnpike,
