T
he holidays are exciting,
but there’s so much to
do, and so little time. At
Millburn & Short Hills
Magazine, we’d like
to assist you with the
second part of that sen-
tence. How can we help?
Let us count the ways.
When it’s time to
shop, our “Ho-Ho-
Holiday Gift Guide”
shows readers to great
presents available in
our area for loved ones
of all ages. And in “Race to the Top,”
business partners Aidan Walsh and
Lindsay Finkel recount how they
launched their own line of athletic
clothing and racing shoes, and opened
a store in The Mall at Short Hills (for
other great new retailers in the mall,
see our Buzzworthy section).
If you’re going to be entertaining
this season, consider this: vodka-latke
parties. They’re usually thrown around
the eight-day observation of Hanukkah
— Dec. 2-10 this year — but you
don’t have to be Jewish to enjoy crispy
potato pancakes using rosemary,
Granny Smith apples, sweet potatoes
and caviar as special ingredients, and
indulging in cocktails that are perfect
gastronomic matches.
We’re there for you and yours if
you’re flying this holiday season: “Up
in the Air” offers helpful tips for those
stressful occasions when you’re seated
apart from your (often pint-sized) trav-
el companions. And “How to Address
Holiday Cards” takes the guesswork
— Miss or Ms.?, New Year or New
Year’s? — out of this time-honored
tradition.
As a treat, we’re including an
interview with Maplewood native
Ann Goldstein, the celebrated Italian
translator who helped bring My
Brilliant Friend to HBO’s Sunday night
lineup. The highly-anticipated eight-
episode series takes us straight through
the season and into the new year.
Happy holidays! ■
