home THE MAIN EVENT (Opposite) Yarnell provides fresh greens for the chandelier and dining room centerpiece; the day before Christmas, she adds fresh flowers to her table arrangement. Table extensions make for extra seating; instead of names, place cards bear funny personal descriptions, or perhaps the names of movie stars who correspond with the guests’ appearances and personalities. (Above, clockwise from left) Yarnell found antique Christmas cards in Vermont and attached them to a wreath along with little white lights. The salt and pepper shakers are gifts from a Russian friend, while the Santa figurine is from the Russian town of Krasnodar by the Black Sea. The chandelier decoration is made with gold balls and a boxwood plant from the garden; an African-American angel is a long sought-after addition. MILLBURN & SHORT HILLS MAGAZINE HOLIDAY 2017 43
