home MORE MID-CENTURY MODERN (Left) The master bedroom sports a herringbone marble floor, subway tiles on the walls and a painted vanity that began life as a mid-century dresser. The mirror is vintage as well. (Clockwise from top left) The sunlit foyer has space for sitting and taking shoes off, and is decorated by Saeed’s mid-century glass collection. “People say ‘Why would you have that with kids?’” says Saeed. “I say ‘My kids don’t touch it because I told them that if anything happens to that glass, Mommy will cry forever.” In this view of the high-ceilinged family room as seen from the foyer, two benches, a farm table for games and crafts, and a vintage wall map of Bruges, Belgium, can be seen. The playroom on the lower level houses a lemonade stand, chalkboard magnet wall, mid-century shelving and a Ramadan tree; the slid- ing barn door into the room has been painted blue. The guest room is part of an in-law suite with kitchenette designed so Saeed’s mother could stay for extended periods. The artwork on the wall is a mid-century vintage work; the headboard is covered in cotton linen. MILLBURN & SHORT HILLS MAGAZINE FALL 2019 23
