INDIGO OPENS AT THE
MALL AT SHORT HILLS
The much-anticipated INDIGO, Canada’s largest book, gift and
specialty toy retailer, opens at The Mall at Short Hills this
month. The 30,000-square-foot shop is located in the lower
level near Bloomingdale’s. What accounts for the buzz? The
company positions itself as a “cultural department store”
organized around a number of “shops” — Joy of the Table;
Wellness; Room of Her Own; Home; Papery; Indigokids;
Indigobaby, and its core business, Indigobooks. Special events
will include author meet and greets, book clubs for adults and
kids, wellness events such as meditation groups, cooking
demos, creative workshops, live music and weekly story times
for children. The store is home to Café Indigo and products
that are exclusive to the company. The Mall at Short Hills
space is Indigo’s first location in the U.S. • 1200 Morris

A ‘VISUAL JOURNEY’ AT THE
SUMMIT PUBLIC LIBRARY
ISABELLA PIZZANO, a prize-winning New Jersey artist, pres-
ents her works of mixed-media abstract expressionism in a
solo show at the Summit Library. The exhibit, which is called
‘VISUAL JOURNEY’ and opened Oct. 1, will run through Nov.
30. It has been an exciting year for the well-traveled native of
Rome, Italy; currently, she has exhibits open in Florham Park
and San Pedro, Calif. as well. “As a signature member of the
International Society of Experimental Artists, I am always in
search of innovative techniques as well as unique ways to use
color and design,” she says. “I am in constant search for rare
and far-fetched papers from different parts of the world, such
as Japan, Nepal, South Africa and Europe.” • Summit Public

GRAB A SEAT
Paper Mill Playhouse is celebrating its 80th
anniversary season, which began Sept. 26
with the opening of the musical The Color
Purple. And debuting a new look. Interior
renovations that were completed over the
summer included replacing the theater’s
seating. You can support the campaign by
purchasing a name plaque as part of the
“Name a Seat” fundraiser. Patrons dedicate
seats to individuals, family members, in
memory of loved ones or with the name of
their business or organization. Pricing for
seat locations ranges from $750 for mezza-
nine seats to $3,000 for seats in the orches-
tra level. Purchasing a plaque does not
guarantee seating for future performances.
