TOP DENTISTS 2020 “A smile is the first impression you give someone,” says Dr. Stone. With this guiding philosophy Gentle Caring Dentistry has incorporated procedures to ensure patients achieve abeautiful smile with optimal comfort. Gentle Caring Dentistry is afull-service, general, family and cosmetic practice that provides routine cleaning and deep scaling; veneers, composites, crowns and fillings; implants; teeth whitening; full mouth restorations, and oral appliances to reduce snoring or teeth grinding. Dr. Stone specializes in treating apprehensive patients. She uses nitrous oxide laughing gas that when inhaled renders patients insensitive to pain. Special movie glasses let patients enjoy an immersive video experience while undergoing treatment. Another boon to patient comfort is the dental Wand, acomputer-assisted system that guides anesthesia injections. “We don’t use the typical syringe,” notes Dr. Stone. The dentist, who was specially trained to use the Wand adds, “It only hits the tooth you’re working on. No more numbness or drooling.” Dr. Stone believes snoring has anegative impact on relationships and notes that about 50 percent of the population snores. To promote harmony and agood night’s sleep, she recommends acustom-made, custom-fitted mouth guard to alleviate the condition. She has noticed an increase these past few months in patients presenting with fractured or broken teeth. She attributes this to stress, and the resulting grinding of teeth, usually while the patient is asleep. Dr. Stone urges people to make an appointment so that she can assess if teeth have been damaged by grinding. Acustom-fitted mouth guard worn while sleeping can remedy this. “I know every aspect of dentistry,” Dr. Stone says with confidence. She began as adental assistant, then became areceptionist in adental practice. She went on to become an office manager and learned the business side of dentistry. This stint was followed by gaining the credentials to become adental hygienist. Aprofessor urged her to attend dental school. “I was fascinated with everything Ilearned,” she recalls. “I’ve sat in everyone’s chair and know what constitutes asuccessful practice.” Dr. Stone is aperfectionist. “My work is my signature in apatient’s mouth. I am very particular about what the result looks like.” She is acertified member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the International Team for Implantology and is aFellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Stone notes that working with her daughter, Dr. Vanna Stone, is very rewarding. She is exceptionally proud that her daughter will be recognized by New Jersey Business Magazine.
