editor’s letter
S
eptember is a great month
for personal reinvention;
we’ve returned from sum-
mer break having traveled
and tried new activities,
and we want to shake
things up a bit. Not coin-
cidentally, the Millburn
& Short Hills Magazine
Back to School issue
has a lot to say about
fashion.
In “Fashion Forward,”
Short Hills’ own Rachel
Zoe reflects on attend-
ing Millburn High School, where she
learned how to love learning from
her beloved English teacher, Ellen
Krueger — who is still on staff there.
She shares the benefits and pitfalls of
constantly being in the limelight, and
what she hopes her two young sons
learn in school. And she has words of
hope for other mothers of boys who
wish they had more fashion decisions
to make other than choosing one dark
color over another.
For mothers of girls and the young
ladies themselves, our fashion round-
up, [“Back To School in Style”],
gives a heads up on new styles and
accessories available this season.
School is a natural venue for try-
ing on new versions of yourself, but
every parent knows that growing up in
our society isn’t always a lighthearted
affair. Our Neighbors column high-
lights a member of the community
who leaves a notebook and pens
in a woodland mailbox so passersby
can write anonymous, and often
confessional, feelings.
Here’s hoping that the upcoming
school year is a fun, productive one
for you and yours. ■
