Q&A
JAMES FREEDSON-JACKSON
AGE: 15
HOMETOWN: South Orange
HIGH SCHOOL: Columbia High School,
Maplewood
YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE HIM:
He played the young Kilgrave in Netflix’s Marvel
Comics Jessica Jones and also co-starred with
Kevin Bacon in the movie thriller Cop Car.
Q: What are your favorite
subjects in school?
FREEDSON-JACKSON: I never thought I’d say
this, but this past year it’s been math. Mostly
because I had a great teacher, Ms. D’Alessio,
and so I actually knew what I was doing.
Q: How do you balance
school work and being
a working actor?
FREEDSON-JACKSON: It’s really hard! It was
easier at SOMS (South Orange Middle School),
but at CHS (Columbia High School) they’re like,
“Congratulations on your film. Your biology
lab was due last Tuesday, so you lost 10
points.” I’m working on balancing these two
things.
Q: What are your favorite
things about growing up
in South Orange?
FREEDSON-JACKSON: I’m a frequent visitor at
Tito’s Burritos & Wings. I love biking in the
South Mountain Reservation and being able to
get into the city in a half hour on the train.
Flood’s Hill is a favorite spot to go sledding in
the winter. I also love that we are close to
Turtle Back Zoo.
Q: What do you enjoy in your
spare time?
FREEDSON-JACKSON: I like to ski, swim, bike,
take photos, and make/edit videos. I also like
to hang out with my twin sister, Anita.
Q: What projects are up next
for you?
FREEDSON-JACKSON: I have a couple things
up in the air, but I can’t talk about them just
yet. One thing that’s definitely happening is
10th grade. ■
