A LIFETIME OF MAGIC

Mike Caveney wears many hats in magic , ranging from performer , author , historian and lecturer . I consider his double book set WONDERS and The Conference Illusions to be one of the most important books in magic . While Wonders is filled with Mike ’ s personal routines he has made a living from for the past forty years , it is also an in-depth look at how to create , develop and build a career . Usually , books like this give us the final version of a routine , but Mike shares all the work that went in to getting it to that final point . As Mac King said in the foreword , “ One of the remarkable things about sitting down and reading these books from cover to cover is gaining some sense as to how Mike ’ s thinking evolved over his life in magic .” The most valuable part of this book for me is seeing how Mike worked on methods over a number of years .

Mike ’ s passion and dedication for the history of magic shines through in The Conference Illusions book , and now in his new book One Hundred Years of Sawing . He has spent over fifty years collecting Sawing in Half memorabilia , and the past year and a half researching and writing this incredible story , which is now available . At 400 pages this book is the most in-depth book you will ever find on this subject in magic .
As I sat and talked to Mike for over two hours , he gave me some great insights into his thinking behind his magic and career , and shared many great stories including his time with Orson Welles . If you want to really get into his mind to see how he thinks , then I highly recommend the book WONDERS , as it really is one of the greatest books in magic .
THE EARLY YEARS
When he was eleven Mike would watch The Magic Lan of Allakazam featuring Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell which helped spark his love for magic . He was twelveyears-old when he visited his first real magic shop - Owen Magic Supreme in Alhambra , California . Riding
