SPECIAL EDITION OCTOBER 2021

I first met Mike Caveney over 30 years ago when he and his wife Tina Lenert came to headline a magic convention in Auckland , New Zealand . The biggest thrill of that convention was getting to watch both Mike and Tina from the side of the stage as I helped move props on and off . Fast forward 30 years and I got the chance to appear on the same stage with them at a show in Brazil , and it reminded me of just how long I have admired and respected both of them as performers and historians of our craft .
Mike recently released his new book , “ One Hundred Years of Sawing ,” with over 400 pages on the history of this iconic magic illusion . During our interview Mike was knee deep in paperwork in his office putting this massive book together and as a celebration of its release , and what I consider one of the most important books in magic I am releasing this very special edition of VANISH MAGIC MAGAZINE .
Within these pages Mike shares some invaluable advice and his honest thoughts on exposing magic , social media performers as well as the thinking that went in to his incredible act that has kept him busy for over fifty years .
I urge you to not only check out his new book but also look at his double-book set WONDERS and The Conference Illusions . In my opinion this is one of the best books ever printed in magic for anybody who is serious about being a performing magician .
I would also like to thank Richard Webster who was kind enough to go through the entire article and help with editing . Richard was there at the Auckland Convention all those years ago and is another life-long fan of Mike and Tina .
You can find out more about this and all of his books at : www . mcmagicwords . com
