Famous hip-hop / gangster rap artist and West Coast rap icon , Tupac Shakur was shot and killed on September 7th , 1996 , in Las Vegas , however many still believe that he is alive and in hiding . Since his debut album , 2Pacalypse Now , 2Pac has a reputation that caused controversy in the rap scene by addressing social issues , East vs West coast rivalries , and gang violence . Promoting West Coast rap while slandering the East Coast style , he furthered the feud by calling out rival East Coast rapper Notorious B . I . G .( Biggie Smalls ).
2Pac progressed rap culture with the implication of gangster rap , a harder style of rap that is more a reflection of gang culture and violent lifestyle . His approach to rap was one of a kind and resulted in a mass following . As the rivalry grew , two main record labels took the front . Death Row Records , 2Pac ’ s label represented the West while Bad Boy Records of New York took the East . On November 30 , 1994 , 2Pac was scheduled to record a verse at Quad Studios in Manhattan , but was shot 5 times by two assailants .
Surviving the incident , 2Pac suspected rival rapper , Biggie of setting up the hit but nothing was ever proved . This attempt on his life only widened the division between

An attempt was made to resolve the differences between the Coasts , but failed as months later 2Pac was shot again in Las Vegas . While it may be obvious why someone would have wanted to kill 2Pac , many believe that he may still be alive and faked his death . One theory is that he was tired of the feud between the West and East Coast , therefore , he faked his death . It ’ s ironic that the death of both Pac and Biggie ended the feud , but were their deaths the end of the story ? It is believed that 2Pac escaped from University Medical Center and went into hiding . Some conspiracy fans mention lyrics littered with references to his escape from the rap forefront while others simply deny this interpretation .
Other theories state that 2Pac did die from the Las Vegas shooting , but question whether it was a gang member ’ s retaliation or a setup . Some believe that Biggie was the mastermind behind it all , hiring a gunman to eliminate 2Pac . This is how 2Pac actually thought the event concurred , as his and Biggie ’ s rivalry was deadly . With a movie and many articles attempting to figure out the true story , the truth will eventually be uncovered .
