RACE INFO Everything You Need to Know... From the programme of the weekend to registration, parking, timing and more, here’s a run-through of all the info you need for the 2020 aQuellé Midmar Mile event. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS Saturday 8 February 2020 Sunday 9 February 2020 08:15 – Event 1 • Disabled swimmers • 71 years & Over • Graeme Pope-Ellis Ironman/woman (2019 Comrades Marathon, 2019 Dusi Canoe Marathon and 2020 aQuelle Midmar Mile), • Ironman/woman Comrades Biathlon (2019 Comrades and 2020 aQuelle Midmar Mile) • Ironman/woman Dusi Biathlon (2019 Dusi Canoe Marathon and 2020 aQuelle Midmar Mile) • CHOC Cows 11:00 – Event 3 • Company Relay Section Only swimmers employed by that company are allowed. Teams comprise five nominated members, with top three to count. 09:45 – Event 2 • Family Relay Section Entrants must be direct family members. Teams comprise five nominated members, with top three to count. 14:00 – Prize-giving Prize-giving for events 1-4 will include a press function for the next day’s events. (Start time may change slightly, depending on availability of results.) 12:15 – Event 4 • Non-Company Relay Section Teams can be company sponsored, non-swimming clubs, friends, etc. Teams comprise five nominated members, with top three to count. 08:30 – Event 5 • Girls 13 years & under • Women 31 years & over 09:45 – Event 6 • Boys 13 years & under • Men 31 years & over 11:00 – Event 7 • Girls/Women 14 to 30 years 12:15 – Event 8 • Boys/Men 14 to 30 years 14:00 – Prize-giving Prize-giving for events 5-8 will take place as soon as results permit. REGISTRATION TIMING CHIP Registering at Cascades Lifestyle Centre Takes place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before the event, open from 10am until 5pm. View a map to Cascades Lifestyle Centre. Important: No chip, no result... and lost chips will be charged at R100. All entrants must collect your envelope, containing your timing chip and bar-coded tag. You will also receive a swimming cap corresponding to your batch colour. There are two registration venues: The chip must be handed in at the finish, with your bar-coded tag! If you are swimming multiple events, you will retain the timing chip until your last swim. Please note: • Ensure that you have the correct chip allocated to you – check this at registration. • Attach your chip to your ankle during your swim. Do no attach it to your wrist, or wear it anywhere else, as you will not receive a result. Registering at Midmar Dam Open on Saturday and Sunday, from 7am, and you need to register at least an hour before you are due to swim. Registration for Sunday events can be done at the dam on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm only. 17
