Jim Osborn, Winemaker, Chaddsford Winery lucila pescarmona, Director / Owner, Lagarde Winery Winemaker Jim Osborn carries on Chaddsford Winery’s 30-year tradition of locally sourced, quality wines in the Brandywine Valley. He is responsible for the winery’s Artisan series, small lot wines, such as the multiple-award-winning 2012 Blaufränkisch. She is a third generation Argentine vintner and lawyer. Founded in 1897, Lagarde has a rich history in the Argentine Wine Industry with century-old vines. She currently runs Bodega Lagarde alongside her sister, Sofia. She is the youngest member of the Board of Wines of Argentina. Chaddsford Winery’s produces a wide variety of wines and every year that changes because they pick the best fruit in order to make the best wine. This includes dry varietals like Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, many of these nationally acclaimed. They also produce fun and easy to drink varietals like Niagara, Sangria and Spiced Apple, as well as hard cider. TASTING NOTES Bodega Lagarde, Argentina | lagarde.com.ar Chaddsford Winery, Chadds Ford, PA | chaddsford.com 2014 Lagarde Atlas Cumbres Torrontes is yellow in color with greenish hues. Intense aroma of fresh grapes. Scent reminiscent flowers and ripe peaches. The mouth feel is fresh. It is light, easy to drink. 2012 Lagarde Guarda Blend is Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah. Complex, dominated by aromas of ripe red fruits. There are also notes of spices, tobacco and smoke. Elegant in the mouth with rounded tannins, good structure and smoothness. 2013 Lagarde Malbec Aromas of ripe red fruits and jams. Soft notes of vanilla, chocolate and smokey scents. Very balanced with good body. The presence of tannins make it smooth and persistent. 2012 Lagarde Primeras Viñas Cabernet Sauvignon Aroma is of fruits like cherry, pepper and other spices. Herbs. Notes of chocolate and tobacco. The tannins are impressive, remarkable, with moderate astringency felt in the mouth, and a cool and vibrant feel. 2012 Lagarde Primeras Viñas Malbec Aroma of red fruit and some menthol notes, coconut, vanilla and spices which are added by the oak. Mouth velvety smooth. Unctuous mouth feel but not too rich. Juicy and pro- longed. Lingering aftertaste. Sample 10 wines presented in person by wine pros, including visiting vintners, who will moderate. The fine bubbles persist in the glass for a long time. Aromas of tropical fruit, some honey and toast. Well balanced in the mouth with good acidity, fruity. It is fresh and at the same time unctuous. Set against one of the largest wine cellars in Delaware, guests will enjoy a 5-course dinner and compare California new world wines with old world Italian vinos at the home of Drs. Laurie Jacobs and Barry Roseman.
