Abandoned Newburgh building to get facelift
Mapos’s plans for the building include a restaurant or cafe, an open studio, and affordable apartments on the 3rd level.

109 South William Street, an abandoned
building is set to receive an upgrade by
Mapos an architectural design company
based out of Manhattan. The project
is still in its infancy going through the
process for City of Newburgh Planning
Board Approval.
Mapos’s plans for the building
include a restaurant or cafe, an open
studio, and affordable apartments on the
3rd level. The work will be done by a
general contractor out of Poughkeepsie,
with local subcontractors performing the
work, such as plumbers, electricians and
framers.
“Newburgh is a beautiful interesting
city,” said Colin Brice, co-founder of
Mapos. “It’s no secret it’s gone through
changes over the last years but we are
excited with what is happening over the
last few years in Newburgh with other
businesses.”
Brice and his partners are looking
to make a space that will be utilized by
the surrounding community on William
Street. They have reached out to members
of the community, restaurant owners,
business owners, residents, and many
others to understand the needs of the
area.
“The community and the city has been
a wonderful partner with us,” said Brice.
“We are thankful and appreciative for
that.”
They look to create a food service
on the ground floor of the building. A
decision has not been made on what
business will be put in this space. The
