A bright rainbow and a solid gold sky
comforted a community in mourning the
day after the loss of a young man taken
too soon. Antwaun ‘Twizzy’ Thomas was
killed in a double homicide on Friday,
November 3.
Thomas was a young man who
touched many lives in the community
of Newburgh. To his mother he was the
little boy running around in his favorite
Pokemon pajamas. He was the kid who
never left the room without giving her a
kiss on the cheek, proudly saying “I love
you.” He was the boy who would beg
his grandmother to take him to the flea
market every sunday with all his friends.
“He was going to be the guy to change
this city,” said Jerrod Lang, a mentor for
Thomas. “No one was maneuvering the
way he was. He had the knowledge to
articulate hope. He always said I was his
mentor, but he was a mentor for me.”
To his family Thomas was the golden
boy. A person his friends and family could
count on in every way.
“Words do not describe him,” said
Antwaun Thomas.
Gina Adams at her son’s memorial, where she was greeted with warm embraces and
condolences by those who knew Thomas.
Raymond Simms, Thomas’ brother. “If
you met him, he left an impression on
you.”
