By SHANTAL RILEY [email protected] Mi America will make its Hudson Valley debut at the Downing Film Center this weekend. The movie, shot in 2013, was filmed almost entirely in the City of Newburgh with local actors and set workers. “The Downing wanted to run it for the people of Newburgh,” said Associate Producer Giancarlo Lorusso. The movie recounts the story of an investigation into the killing of five Hispanic migrant workers, whose bodies are found in an abandoned warehouse on the Brooklyn waterfront. A detective, played by Robert Fontaine, is assigned to the case. “It’s about the growing trend of hate crimes against Hispanics of AmericanIndian descent in America,” said Fontaine, who also directs the film. Local cast members include Zoe Hunter, Michael Power, Chris Tighe, Terri Vargas and Leif Grund. Newburgher Keith Nieto worked as a set designer on the film and scores of extras were also hired locally. The film
