New Windsor Police was dispatched to a roll over auto accident , Monday , on Forge Hill Road just west of State Route 9W , New Windsor EMS was also at the scene . The vehicle went off the roadway and ended up in a ditch . EMS was evaluating the subject , while Police were investigating the cause . Traffic was blocked in both directions while the investigation was being conducted .

City landlords have called for a tenant responsibility law for years , citing the high cost to maintain buildings and a lack of tenant accountability .
At the hearing , city landlord Peter Gasparini recalled gaining access to one of his apartments and finding “ a boarded-up kitchen with raw garbage everywhere .” Others landlords complained of refuse left outside and in hallways , ruined floors and punched-in walls .
As it is currently written , failure to comply with the new tenant law would bring a fine of up to $ 250 or “ a term of imprisonment not to exceed 15 days or both .”

people ’ s lives at stake ,” said Andre Niles . “ To criminalize somebody because they don ’ t have good hygiene habits is crazy ,” said Joe Alvarez , who suggested landlords outline tenant responsibilities in rental leases .
Jail and fines would be handed down solely at “ the discretion of a judge ,” Corporation Counsel Michelle Kelson said .
After hearing concerns from residents , Newburgh Mayor Judy Kennedy suggested the jail provision be eliminated entirely . “ I ’ m going to recommend we raise the penalty and eliminate the jail time ,” said the mayor .
The Newburgh City Council meets at its next regular meeting at 7 p . m . on March 13 at the City of Newburgh Activity Center , 401 Washington Street .
Applications are now being accepted for three open seats on the Newburgh Enlarged City School District Board of Education . Candidate applications are due in to the district clerk ’ s office by April 26 .
The seats belong to board members Ken Copertino , Darren Stridiron and Carole Mineo , who currently serves as the school board president . All three are expected to run for reelection .
School board members serve three-year terms . The district-wide election take place on May 16 .

Menacing with a gun and drug charges filed against 3

Three people are being held in city lockup , following an investigation into menacing with a gun .
On March 4 at 5:58 p . m . City of Newburgh Police responded to 264 First St . for the report of a menacing with a gun . Upon arrival , patrol officers began a search of the area for a possible suspect when Officer Alonzo observed an individual matching the suspect description in the door of 230 First St .
The individual , identified as Nathaniel Burden , 47 , of the City of Newburgh was placed under arrest and charged with Menacing 2nd ( Class A Misd .).
During the course of the investigation officers recovered 198.5 grams of crack cocaine which led to the arrest of Darci Hill , 37 , and Connie Boykin Jr ., 45 . Both were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd ( Class A Fel .), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd ( Class B Fel .)
All three were held pending arraignment in City Court .

Direct flight from Stewart to Norway to begin in July

Norwegian Air , which is going to begin nonstop service between Stewart Airport and Europe in early July , announced , this week , that a fifth European city has been added to the schedule
The Newburgh service , which begins on July 1 , was initially announced to serve Dublin and Shannon in Ireland , Belfast in Northern Ireland and Edinburgh in Scotland .
Now , the airline announced it will fly between Stewart and Bergen Airport Flesland in Norway . Those twice weekly flights will begin on July 2 and operate seasonally during the summer with starting fares as low as $ 89 one-way including taxes .
