With four miles of hiking trails and an in-line skating park , Chadwick Lake has long beckoned health-conscious residents , but now there ’ s a new reason to head to the Town of Newburgh park .
The Town of Newburgh Recreation Department , last week , opened a new fitness circuit . Town officials were on hand last Wednesday for the opening of the circuit , located next to the recently relocated bocce courts and skating rink . Many of them took turns at the modernlooking devices
Town Recreation Commissioner Rob Petrillo said the new 10-piece center is the culmination of a four-year project . It features a two-person elliptical machine and a four-person leg press . The equipment is designed to utilize a person ’ s body weight as the main form of resistance . There are no weights attached . Three of the machines are designed to be handicapped accessible .
“ This is the new style of things to come ,” Petrillo said noting that people could come and work out while their children are in the adjacent playground .
The total cost for the project was
$ 62,000 , including $ 21,000 for the rubberized surface on which the machines rest . The town was fortunate to collect a $ 10,000 grant from Greenfields Outdoor Fitness , manufacturer of the equipment , Petrillo said . The remainder of the project was funded under the
