After leaving Sicily and spending more
than a week on a ship sailing west, they
arrived to the United States with hope for
a better life and a brighter future.
The Doddo Family disembarked from
the Cristoforo Colombo on Jan. 21, 1973.
“They journeyed here to New York and

Mayor Torrance Harvey. “They never

The Doddo Family were honored
Monday at Newburgh City Hall where

Sponsored by Mr. Doddo’s brother

- came to Newburgh and quickly joined
the community. The children attended
Newburgh schools and all four graduated
from Newburgh Free Academy, Harvey
said.
