The dumper, later charged under the City
of Newburgh’s anti-dumping law, told
police the owner of the property said it

New Windsor resident Colin Schmitt
will face two-term Assemblyman James
Skoufis for his seat in the 99th District in
the New York State Assembly.
The young Republican serves in the
Army National Guard. He is the former
director of operations for the state
Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and
Military Affairs Committee.
Schmitt, 26, has lobbied for the
passage of “Laree’s Law,” allowing law
enforcement to charge drug dealers with
homicide in cases of overdose deaths
from opioids. Schmitt also opposes the
state’s “DREAM Act,” which, if signed
into state law, would free college tuition
for undocumented immigrants.
The act passed in the State Assembly
in June. “Many men and women in
Orange and Rockland Counties, like
myself, are saddled with student loan
debt that will take years to pay off,”
Schmitt states on his campaign website.
“Yet, our Democratic Assembly members
are dedicated to taking our tax dollars
to give illegal aliens free college tuition.
