and giving her contact information for legal aid services .
Soon after , a parade of accused Wal-Mart shoplifters came before the judge : one charged with stealing $ 40 worth of merchandise ; another asked the judge , “ Are you serious ?” when she was told she would have to complete an on-line , shoplifting-prevention course .
Martini appeared not to hear the comment . All the shoplifters were charged with petit larceny .
While the judge worked his way through cases , a woman snored in her seat . She was eventually called before the judge , accused of driving her car without insurance . The insurance lapse was discovered when the woman got into a nasty fender bender . “ It was a two-car accident ,” Martini said , sorting through papers .
The judge was jovial and spoke friendly to many of the people who came before him , in the same way he spoke

levels , U . S . Cranes has determined to limit access to the site solely to Route 17K , as opposed to opening an entrance on Stewart Avenue , which is mostly a residential area . “ All of the cars — cars , heavy truck traffic , everything — is going to come off of 17K ,” said consultant for U . S . Cranes Andrew Fetherston of Maser Consulting .
When questioned by board member Elizabeth Greene whether they were concerned over large trucks using Stewart Avenue as a short cut to I-84 or I-87 , representatives of US Cranes did not think it would be likely for a 75-foot long vehicle to use that narrow road as an alternative route .
Additionally , to mitigate potential noise levels and visual impact , the company has agreed to store their fleet of mobile cranes 800 feet away from the nearest residents , which will also have the new building as a buffer as well . Because most of the construction work will happen inside the building and during standard work hours ( 6 a . m . to 6 p . m .), the company does not think noise levels will be an issue , especially since the area is already industrialized . U . S . Cranes has repeatedly emphasized how willing they have been to listen to suggestions and make adjustments in consideration of neighboring residents .
“ We ’ ve had our ear to the ground , we are trying to listen [ as to ] what are the issues here if we come here to use this site ” said Fetherston .
At the recommendation of the town , once U . S . Cranes receives confirmation from the planning board on its site plans it will likely hold an informational meeting for the neighboring residents , as soon as February 2017 .

Sacred Heart School students to move into St . Joseph ’ s

The former St . Joseph School in New Windsor will serve as a temporary home for about 200 students of Sacred Heart School .

Students and staff at Sacred Heart School will move into the former St . Joseph School building in New Windsor after their building was condemned due to several code violations earlier this month .
“ St . Joseph ’ s is where the students will complete the school year ,” said Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York spokesman Joseph Zwilling . However , Zwilling said Wednesday , moving details still need to be finalized .
Students will be provided “ all necessary busing and transportation ,” Archdiocese spokesman Nicholas Iacono confirmed Tuesday .
The Catholic school was cited for building-code violations not long after the City of Newburgh Fire Department responded to a boiler problem at the school on Jan . 17 . Violations included leaking heating-system pipes and a structural concern caused by a crack in a wall on the first floor of the building .
Completing all the repairs in the building would likely take months , said City of Newburgh acting Fire Chief Terry Ahlers . “ The engineering report we require could take four to six weeks to complete ,” he said , and the replacement of the heating system will take longer .
Located on South Robinson Avenue between Ann and Washington streets , Sacred Heart School has about 200 students in pre-school through eighth grade .
Zwilling could not provide a definite move-in date , but said the move will take place as soon as possible . In the meantime , students are studying at home . “ Parents have been given material for students to go over to continue their learning ,” he said .
St . Joseph School , located on Windsor Highway , was closed by the Archdiocese in a round of costcutting school closures in 2015 .
