CORRECTION
A Mid Hudson Times article published
on Dec. 23 reported on a bank robbery
which took place on Dec. 16 at Sterling
National Bank in the Town of Newburgh.
The bank is located in the Stop & Shop
parking lot on Route 300. The location
was incorrect in last week’s paper

bases.”
They made the “ultimate sacrifice,”
Wagner said. “We take great pride in
their professionalism, patriotism and service, as we do in all of our members as
they continue to carry out the mission for
our state and nation.”
Wagner described Lemm and Bonacasa
as “experienced defenders.”
“Technical Sgt. Lemm joined the Air
National Guard in 2008,” Wagner said,
and served 15 years with the NYPD. “And,
Staff Sgt. Bonacasa had seven years within the security forces career field. Both
were on their third combat deployment
and were no strangers to the difficulty
and danger of the Base Defense Squadron
mission.”
The squadron performs a “unique” mission, said Wagner. “It takes our defenders
outside the perimeter of an overseas airbase, what we term ‘outside the wire,’ to
conduct security patrols,” he said.
“In other words, they go outside the
relatively safe confines of a deployed airbase to perform missions to enhance the
security of that airbase, a difficult and
dangerous undertaking, as sadly was just
proven yet again.”
